Classic Wine Tasting

Hosted virtual happy hour ideas

Two ways to fill the hour: a kit everyone opens together, or a game everyone plays. Live-hosted, 45 to 60 minutes, on Zoom by default (Teams, Meet or Webex on request). Prices are live.

More drinks in mixology classes and wine tasting; more games in game shows, trivia and bingo. Food instead of drinks? Charcuterie, cookie and bubble tea kits are in virtual cooking classes. Planning for October? See our virtual Halloween party ideas.

Hosting tips that work

  1. 1Keep it to 45 or 60 minutes, and end on time.
  2. 2Pick a slot inside everyone's workday: 4 pm Eastern is 1 pm Pacific.
  3. 3Give the hour one activity. An open call means six people talking at once.
  4. 4Say "any drink" in the invite, and offer zero-proof or coffee kits.
  5. 5Use breakout rooms of four to six, then bring everyone back for the finish.

Virtual happy hour questions

What is a virtual happy hour?

An after-work get-together on a video call, usually 45 to 60 minutes, where the team relaxes with a drink. The good ones have a shape: a game, a tasting or a class, so people talk to each other instead of watching two people chat.

What do you do at a virtual happy hour?

Play a hosted game show or trivia, mix cocktails with a live mixologist, taste wine or coffee from a kit, or run free games yourself: breakout tables, five-minute trivia, two truths and a lie or a toast round. The run sheets on this page show how to fill an hour.

What is in a happy hour kit?

Ours come with a live class. The Mixology Cocktail Duo kit, for example, has white rum and tequila in 50ml bottles, simple syrup, lime juice, soda water and citrus wheels; guests add ice, glasses and a shaker or a lidded container. Wine, coffee, bubble tea and charcuterie kits work the same way.

Do people have to drink alcohol?

No. The Mixology Cocktail Duo and Trio have non-alcoholic kits, coffee and bubble tea contain no alcohol, and hosted games work with any drink. Kits with alcohol need an adult (21+) signature on delivery.

How far ahead should we book?

About 2 weeks for hosted games and 3 weeks for kits, so they can ship; 3 to 4 weeks with addresses outside the US. Wine cannot ship to a few US states; the wine tasting page lists them.

How much does a virtual happy hour cost?

Kit classes start at $78 a person plus a $379 base fee, kit and continental US shipping included. Hosted games like Quiz Showdown! start at $975 for up to 25 people (about $39 each). A DIY happy hour costs nothing but an hour. You see the full price before you book, and a 50% deposit holds the date.

Which video platforms do you use?

Zoom by default; Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request. Music Bingo runs on Zoom only, for the best audio.
