Sales kickoff ideas and SKO team building activities

A strong SKO mixes three things: a competitive game that gets reps talking across regions, a session that sharpens a real selling skill, and a loud moment for last year's wins. We host all three, virtual or in person, with custom trivia about your own product, from about $34 a person.

A Quiz Showdown! round card: Round 3, Pop Culture, 75 points

Kickoff games for a room full of closers

Scoreboards, team switches and region-vs-region rivalry. Each is about an hour with a live host.

Speakers and workshops that sharpen the team

Put one in the morning, when heads are clear. Each is a live, interactive session, not a webinar.

Put your product into the trivia

Quiz Showdown!, Trivia with a Twist! and Your Favorite Game Shows! can add new questions and custom backgrounds. A round about your own customers and wins is the one people talk about afterwards.

  • Name that customer

Show a cropped logo or a famous customer quote and let teams race to name the account.
  • The year in numbers

Questions built on last year's milestones: launches, new regions, the biggest week on record.
  • Who said it?

Quotes from leadership, the sales floor and the company chat. The CRO's catchphrase always lands.
  • Product deep cut

A feature most reps have never demoed. Teaching disguised as a game.

How a custom round gets made

  1. Send your questions. Questions, answers and any images, at least 4 weeks before the kickoff.

  2. We build the round. Your questions go into the game with custom backgrounds; some requests cost extra.

  3. The host runs it live. Your round plays alongside the standard ones, with the same reveals and scoring.

A two-day SKO agenda with team building built in

Keynotes and pipeline reviews are yours. These are the slots where a hosted activity does the most work.

  1. Before day 1

    Mix the teams

Build game teams that cross regions and segments: an enterprise AE, an SDR from another office, a solutions engineer. The game becomes the first conversation many of them have had all year.

  2. Day 1 · 9:00

    Open with the plan

Leadership sets the number and the strategy. Keep it tight; you have two days.

  3. Day 1 · 11:00

    A skill, not a speech

A practical workshop before lunch, while heads are clear. Public speaking and improv both translate straight into calls and demos: try the Speak Up! Public Speaking Workshop or Improv.

  4. Day 1 · 2:00

Beat the post-lunch slump with a game

The slot after lunch is where kickoffs lose people. Put the competitive game there: an hour of region-vs-region rounds in Quiz Showdown! or Poll Points!, with one round about your own product and customers.

  5. Day 1 · 3:15

Awards while the room is loud

Run your President's Club and top-performer awards straight after the game, while energy is at its peak. Recognition lands better in a room that is already cheering.

  6. Day 2 · 9:00

Split tracks for managers and reps

Managers take a leadership session such as Supercharge Your Squad while reps work on their own year, for example with Success Supercharge. Close day two together with the final leaderboard and the kickoff message you want them to remember.

Kicking off in person?

If the whole sales team is flying in, the game can be in the room. Feud Night, Team Trivia, Music Bingo and Blitz-Speed Trivia run live at your hotel, venue or office in 17 US cities, including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Denver, San Diego and Boston. See all 17 cities, or hybrid team building if remote reps are dialing in.

Free SKO energizers between sessions

Short resets for the gaps between keynotes. No booking needed.

  • 5 minutes

    Objection bingo

Hand out a bingo card of the objections reps hear most. During role-plays, anyone who hears one marks it. First full row gets bragging rights.
  • 5 minutes

    60-second pitch battle

Two volunteers pitch something absurd (a stapler, a rainy Tuesday) for 60 seconds each. The room votes in chat.
  • 3 minutes

Win of the year in one word

Everyone types their best deal or moment of the year in a single word. Read the best ones out loud.

Sales kickoff questions

What are good sales kickoff team building activities?

Competitive, team-based formats that mix regions: hosted trivia like Quiz Showdown!, game shows like Your Favorite Game Shows! and Poll Points!, and Office Olympics. Pair one game with a skills session such as the Speak Up! Public Speaking Workshop or Improv.

Can the trivia include questions about our product?

Yes. Quiz Showdown!, Trivia with a Twist! and Your Favorite Game Shows! can add new questions and custom backgrounds; some requests cost extra. Send your questions at least 4 weeks before the kickoff.

Where should team building go in an SKO agenda?

Right after lunch on day one, when energy dips, followed by your awards while the room is still loud. Put skills workshops in the morning, when people are fresh.

Can you run activities at an in-person kickoff?

Yes. Feud Night, Team Trivia, Music Bingo and Blitz-Speed Trivia run in person in 17 US cities, including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Denver and San Diego. Virtual games work for remote reps or a hybrid kickoff.

How many people can play at a sales kickoff?

Big groups play as more teams, each in its own breakout room, and we may add a tech assistant. For a whole sales org, we can run several activities in parallel tracks.

When should we book for a January SKO?

Hosted games need at least 2 weeks, kit workshops 3 weeks, and custom questions or branding 4 weeks. For a January kickoff with a custom round, plan in November or early December.

How much do SKO activities cost?

Hosted games start from about $34 a person, priced as a package for your group. Speakers and workshops are priced as packages too, and each card shows its live price. You see the full price before you book, and a 50% deposit holds the date.
