What makes leadership team building work
Leaders are the hardest group to surprise. These five habits separate a session that changes how the team works from one that is forgotten by Monday.
- Tie it to one real problem. A workshop lands when the team uses it the same day on a decision it actually has to make.
- Let someone else run it. When the most senior person facilitates, everyone performs for them. An outside host lets the CEO be one of the team.
- Leaders share first. If the most senior person answers the hard question honestly, the rest follow.
- Mix work with play. A game after a heavy session is not a break from the work; it is where people see each other as people.
- Check back in 30 days. Write down every commitment and read them out at the next leadership meeting.
