Team building workshops, picked by the outcome you want

A team building workshop is a live 60-minute session where an expert facilitator teaches your team one skill and has them practice it. Ours run on Zoom, or on Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request, and start at $850. Below are the skill workshops we host, grouped by the problem each one fixes, with live prices.

How a hosted team workshop runs

Every workshop on this page is live. A facilitator who teaches the subject leads it on your video call, so people can ask about their own situation instead of watching a recording.

Most of the team in one office? Put the session on a room screen and let remote colleagues join from home. You send the invite. We bring the facilitator and run the hour.

  1. Reserve the date. Pick a workshop and book about 2 weeks ahead. A 50% deposit holds the date.

  2. Invite the team. Confirm your headcount and send the calendar invite. For most sessions people need a laptop, a pen and some paper.

  3. The facilitator runs the hour. Live on Zoom, or on Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request. Most sessions mix a few core ideas with short exercises and questions. The ones led by Dr. Ellen Vora are expert talks.

  4. Use it the same week. Ask everyone for one thing they will try, and come back to it at the next team meeting.

Workshop, game or lunch and learn?

Four formats that all fill an hour and do very different jobs. Pick the format before the topic.

  • Skill workshop

    Best when
The team has a specific problem: flat meetings, stress, avoided feedback.
    What people do
Learn one idea from an expert, practice it in short exercises and ask questions.
    What they leave with
A shared method and one thing to try this week.
  • Hosted game

    Best when
People do not know each other yet, or the team needs a break.
    What people do
Play in small teams with a live host: trivia, escape rooms, game shows.
    What they leave with
Names put to faces and a few inside jokes.
  • Lunch and learn

    Best when
You want learning without taking a meeting slot.
    What people do
The same kind of session, held over lunch in a lighter tone.
    What they leave with
A useful idea, and the afternoon back.
  • Craft workshop

    Best when
You want something calm that is not about work at all.
    What people do
Make something by hand from a kit shipped to each person.
    What they leave with
The thing they made, on their desk.

How to pick a workshop for your team's actual problem

The best workshop ideas come from what is going wrong, not from a list of topics.

  • Start from a symptom, not a topic. Write down what you actually see: quiet meetings, missed deadlines, tired people. The topic follows from that.
  • Ask the team one question. “What would make work easier this month?” The answers usually name the workshop for you.
  • One workshop, one behavior. Decide what you want people to do differently on Monday, and book the session that teaches exactly that.

Build a workshop series across a quarter

One workshop starts a conversation. Three in a row give it time to stick. Here are four ready-made quarters, one session a month.

  • One session a month, same weekday and hour. A fixed slot becomes a habit. A moving one becomes optional.
  • Keep the same group for all three. The second session works because of what people said in the first.
  • Ten minutes in between. At a team meeting, ask what people tried and what happened.
  • Order from easy to hard. Start with a practical skill and save the trust topics for when the group has warmed up.

Booking several sessions at once? A multi-event program puts the whole series on one plan. For a full year, see our annual team building program and annual wellness program.

Craft workshops: the other kind of team workshop

Sometimes “workshop” means making something. In a craft workshop a kit ships to each person, and a live instructor leads everyone through the same project: a candle, a painting, a terrarium.

It is the right pick when the team needs an hour that is not about work. Craft workshops are priced per person plus a base fee, and the kits need 3 weeks of lead time. See all virtual craft workshops.

Team building workshop questions

What is a team building workshop?

A live session, usually 60 minutes, where a facilitator teaches a team one skill and has them practice it together. Unlike a game, the goal is something people do differently afterward: clearer presentations, calmer weeks, more honest meetings. Because the whole team learns it at once, everyone shares the same words for it later.

How much does a team building workshop cost?

Workshops are priced for the group, not per seat. Workshops start at $850. Speak Up! Public Speaking Workshop is $850 for up to 25 people; Maximizing Time Management is $1,200 for the session; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Foundations is $3,500 for the session. Every row on this page shows its live price, and you see the full price before you book.

What are good workshop ideas for a team?

Pick by the problem you want to fix. For communication: public speaking, presenting on video or improv. For trust: psychological safety, vulnerability or emotional intelligence. For overload: stress management, burnout or sleep. For growth: time management, goal setting or self-leadership. For inclusion: DEI foundations or allyship.

Do you run workshops for professional development?

Yes. The leadership and self-management workshops on this page are professional development workshops: time management, goal setting, self-leadership and leading a team. Many teams run one a month, or hold them over lunch as a lunch and learn.

How does a virtual workshop work?

Everyone joins your video call and a facilitator leads the hour live. Most sessions mix a few core ideas with short exercises and time for questions. Workshops run on Zoom by default, or on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request. An office group can watch on a room screen while remote colleagues join from home.

What is a good stress management workshop for employees?

Let's Stand Up to Stress is the hands-on one: relaxation and movement techniques people can use in the middle of a busy day. How To Avoid Burnout covers the signs of burnout and how to prevent it, and Sleep Strategies covers sleeping better. How To Avoid Burnout is $4,200 for the session. For more mental health workshop ideas, see our mental health workshops page.

How many people can join a team workshop?

Most package-priced workshops cover up to 25 people, and larger groups are priced up from there. Flat-rate workshops are one price for the session. Each row on this page shows which it is. Send us your headcount and we confirm the format and the quote.

How far ahead should we book a workshop?

About 2 weeks ahead. Allow 4 weeks if you want the content customized or branded for your company. If your date is sooner, ask anyway.
