Virtual coffee tasting questions

How does a virtual coffee tasting class work?

Every guest gets a coffee kit at home before the day: a glass pour-over carafe, a tablespoon measure and three fair-trade coffees. On the call, an instructor covers the science of coffee, how coffees from different regions taste, and different ways to brew. It runs 60 minutes on Zoom by default, or Teams, Google Meet or Webex.

How much does a virtual coffee tasting cost per person?

Coffee Tasting is $89 a person plus a $379 base fee: $2,604 in total for 25 guests, about $105 a person. Tea Garden & Tasting is $69 and Bubble Tea Making is $78 a person, with the same base fee. Kits and continental US shipping are included, and a 50% deposit holds the date.

What's in the coffee kit, and what do guests need at home?

The kit has a glass pour-over carafe, a tablespoon measure and three global fair-trade coffees. Ask us about a Deluxe kit that adds a gooseneck electric kettle. Guests add a way to boil water (a microwave, stovetop or kettle), two or three mugs and water.

Is there a decaf or caffeine-free option?

The coffee kit lists no decaf option, and the tea garden and bubble tea kits use black and green teas, which contain caffeine. If someone on your team avoids caffeine, ask us when you book.

Do I need a stove for the bubble tea class?

No. Any way to boil water works: a microwave, a stovetop or a kettle. Guests also need milk or a non-dairy alternative, three small heat-safe bowls and drinking glasses.

Can kits ship to remote employees outside the US?

Continental US shipping is included, and Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, Canada and international addresses add the per-guest fee shown on this page. Tea seeds and food can face customs rules in some countries, so tell us where each guest is when you book and we confirm every address with you. Outside the US, book about 5 weeks ahead.

What's the difference between a virtual coffee break and a hosted tasting?

A virtual coffee break is an informal chat where everyone brings their own drink, usually with no host and no plan. A hosted tasting ships the same coffees to everyone and an instructor runs the hour, so the team has something to do and talk about together.

How far ahead do we need to book?

Book at least 21 days ahead. Guests' addresses are due 14 days before the class, and kits are expected at least 3 days before it. With guests outside the US, book about 5 weeks ahead. More on shipping kits to global teams.
