Virtual cooking classes for team building

Every guest gets a food kit at home and makes it with a live instructor on your video call: charcuterie, cookies, cocoa bombs, bubble tea or a gingerbread house, or your team watches a chef's live zero-waste demo. Each is a one-hour make-and-taste session, not a full meal, from $72 a person plus a $379 base fee.

What each class makes, and what to have ready

How a virtual cooking class works

You pick the class and send addresses. We handle the kits, the shipping and the instructor.

  1. 1

    Book about 3 weeks out

Pick a class and a date. An estimated headcount is fine; we plan a 20% buffer on top of it.
  2. 2

    Send addresses

Guests' addresses are due 14 days before the class. Outside the US, allow 3 to 4 weeks in total.
  3. 3

    Kits land

Each kit is expected at least 3 days before the class, so there is time to fix any delivery problem.
  4. 4

    Make it together

Your instructor works on camera and everyone follows along at home, with time for questions and show and tell.

What to expect, honestly

  • Real food in front of every person, made with a live instructor in about an hour.
  • Light kitchen work: a knife, a microwave or a kettle at most. Cookies and gingerbread need no heat at all.
  • Not a full meal. Nobody cooks three courses in an hour-long online cooking class on a work call, and that keeps it easy.
  • Want to watch a chef cook? Zero Waste Cooking is a live demo with no kit.

Which class fits your team

Start from the occasion. These are the picks we suggest most.

Holiday party
Gingerbread houses, cookie decorating or hot chocolate bombs
Client or leadership thank-you
Charcuterie board making
Summer, or a team that skips alcohol
Bubble tea making
Earth Day or a sustainability week
Zero Waste Cooking, the chef demo
Mixed skill levels
Cookie decorating: there is no wrong cookie

Team in several countries? Pick a kit that ships worldwide from the table above, or the chef demo, which needs no kit at all.

Running a cook-along yourself?

It works for a small team with a keen cook. Four steps:

  1. 1Pick one no-cook recipe: guacamole, bruschetta or a snack board.
  2. 2Send the shopping list a week ahead, with swaps for common allergies.
  3. 3Ask your most confident home cook to demo it on camera.
  4. 4Keep it to 30 minutes, then eat together on camera.

The catch: everyone shops separately, so results and turnout vary. A kit puts the same food in front of every person.

Virtual cooking class questions

What are virtual cooking classes for team building?

Live, hosted food sessions on your video call. With us, every guest gets a food kit at home and makes it along with an instructor: a charcuterie board, decorated cookies, hot chocolate bombs, bubble tea or a gingerbread house. Or a chef runs a live zero-waste cooking demo with no kit. Each runs about an hour.

Is it a full cooking class?

No, and we say so up front. These are 60-minute make-and-taste sessions, not multi-course meals. The kitchen work is light: a knife, a microwave or a kettle at most. Zero Waste Cooking is a demo: the chef cooks, your team watches and asks questions.

What is in the kit, and what do guests need at home?

The food and tools for the class. The cookie kit, for example, has three sugar cookies, icing, three gel colors, sprinkles and piping bags; guests add plates, spoons, bowls, scissors and water. The table on this page lists every class.

Can you handle dietary needs?

Tell us before you book. The charcuterie kit comes with meat or vegetarian options. The gingerbread kit contains gluten and dairy and is nut-free. Every product page lists what is in the kit.

Where do the food kits ship?

Charcuterie Board Making ships within the continental US only. Cookie Decorating, Hot Chocolate Bomb, Bubble Tea Making and Gingerbread House Decorating ship worldwide, with a per-guest add-on outside the continental US. The chef demo needs no kit, so anyone can join from anywhere.

How far ahead should we book?

About 3 weeks for food kits, and 3 to 4 weeks with addresses outside the US. The chef demo needs about 2 weeks. Branded packaging or custom kits need 4 weeks.

How much does a virtual cooking class cost?

Food kit classes run from $72 to $109 a person plus a $379 base fee, kit and continental US shipping included. Zero Waste Cooking is $1,800 flat for the group. You see the full price before you book, and a 50% deposit holds the date.

Which video platforms do you use?

Zoom by default; Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request. Hybrid team? Put the instructor on a room screen with a camera and mic on the room. More on hybrid team building.
