Never have I eversent an email without the attachment.

Never have I ever is a classic party game, and most lists of never have I ever questions are written for exactly that kind of party. This one is written for a team meeting. The 200 statements below cover work life, remote work, tech fails, food, travel, holidays and childhood, and none of them asks anyone to share something they would rather keep to themselves. They work just as well with friends and family.

How does never have I ever work?

All you need is hands. The rules take five steps.

  1. Everyone holds up five fingers. Use ten for a longer game. Sit or stand so the whole group can see every hand.
  2. One person reads a statement. It always starts with “Never have I ever”. Use the deck above or pick a number from the lists below.
  3. Done it? Put a finger down. If you have done the thing, one finger goes down. If you never have, your hand stays as it is.
  4. Hear one story. Anyone who put a finger down can tell the story in a sentence or two. Nobody has to.
  5. Last hand up wins. Take turns reading. The game ends when one person still has a finger up, or after 15 statements, whichever comes first.

On Zoom, Teams or Slack

  • Hands on camera: everyone holds five fingers up next to their face, so the whole gallery can see the count.
  • Reactions: if cameras are off, people who have done it click a thumbs up or raise a hand. The host calls out how many.
  • Chat: everyone who has done it types “me” in the chat. Ask one of them for the story.
  • Cameras as lives: start with cameras on, and turn yours off when you run out of fingers. The last face on screen wins.
  • In Slack or Teams chat: post one statement a day and ask people to react with an emoji if they have done it.

Four ways to change the game

  1. 1. Points instead of fingers

Flip the scoring so doing more things is good. Everyone keeps a tally and scores a point for each statement they have done. The highest score after 20 statements wins the title of most adventurous.

  2. 2. Stand up, sit down

For a big room. Everyone sits. Read a statement, and everyone who has done it stands. Nobody keeps score: the fun is seeing who stands with you.

  3. 3. Step into the circle

Stand in a circle. Anyone who has done the thing steps in, looks around, and steps back out. Good for a team that sits all day.

  4. 4. The only one

Players take turns making up their own statement, trying to name something nobody else in the group has done. Score a point if every hand stays put.

Try: “Never have I ever been to all seven continents.”

A 10-minute never have I ever game for a team meeting

A script you can run as written. It fits ten statements, a handful of stories and a winner into the first ten minutes of a meeting.

  1. Minute 0 to 1: set it up. Say: “Five fingers up. If you've done it, put one down. Nobody has to explain anything.” Read the house rules below once.
  2. Minutes 1 to 8: ten statements. Read one about every 40 seconds. Start with two from Work life, then two from Tech fails, then six from any other set. After each, ask one person with a finger down for a one-sentence story.
  3. Minutes 8 to 9: find the winner. Whoever has the most fingers up wins. Ties share the title. Clap, and don't ask the winner to explain what they haven't done.
  4. Minute 9 to 10: close. Ask everyone to type one word in the chat, or say it out loud: which statement surprised you most? Then start the meeting.

House rules to read out first

  • No explaining required. A finger goes down, and that is the whole answer unless the person wants to say more.
  • Anyone can pass on any statement by keeping their hand still. Nobody checks.
  • Stories are offered, never requested twice. If someone says “long story”, move on.
  • Stick to the lists, or to statements in the same spirit: small mishaps and good experiences. Nothing about health, money, relationships or rule-breaking.
  • The reader can skip any card without saying why.
  • What comes up stays light. Nobody brings an answer back later to tease.

Never have I ever FAQ

How does never have I ever work?

Everyone holds up five or ten fingers. One person reads a statement that starts with “Never have I ever”, and anyone who has done that thing puts a finger down. People take turns reading. The last person with a finger still up wins.

What are good never have I ever questions?

Good ones are things about half the group has done, with a story behind them: Never have I ever sent an email without the attachment. Never have I ever taken an overnight train. Never have I ever built a blanket fort. This page has 200 in eight sets.

What are some funny never have I ever questions?

Small, silly confessions get the biggest laughs: Never have I ever looked for my phone while I was holding it. Never have I ever said thank you to an automatic door. Never have I ever put my keys in the fridge. The Harmless confessions and Tech fails sets have 50 of these between them.

Can you play never have I ever at work?

Yes, with the right statements. Keep to everyday mishaps and experiences such as travel, food, childhood and tech fails, and leave out anything about health, money, relationships or breaking rules. Tell people they never have to explain an answer. Every statement on this page was written with a manager in the room in mind.

How do you play never have I ever on Zoom?

Have everyone hold five fingers up on camera and put one down for each thing they have done. With cameras off, use a thumbs up reaction or type “me” in the chat. Ten statements takes about ten minutes, which makes it a good meeting opener.

What is the difference between never have I ever and have you ever questions?

They cover the same ground in different ways. Never have I ever is a game: one statement, everyone answers at once with a finger. Have you ever questions are asked to one person or a small group and lead straight to a story. This page has 30 have you ever questions after the main lists.

How many never have I ever questions do you need for a game?

Fewer than you think. A five-finger game ends in 10 to 15 statements, which takes about ten minutes. Pick a mix: a few everyone has done, a few almost nobody has, and plenty in between.

Can KraftyLab host a game for our team?

Yes. Our hosts run game shows and trivia for about an hour on Zoom by default (Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request), or in person at your office in 17 US cities. Book about 2 weeks ahead, or get a free quote with your date and headcount.

Ready for a bigger game?

Send us your date and headcount. You get a full game plan within 24 hours.
