Icebreaker Bingo

Find someone who...

1 of 10

Tap a square when you find someone. Five in a row wins.

Ice breaker bingo, also called human bingo, gives people a reason to talk to someone new and a list of things to ask. The bingo card generator above makes a different card for every player from four themes: work, remote, holiday and get to know you. It works at a kickoff, an onboarding day, a holiday party or the first ten minutes of a big video call.

How to play ice breaker bingo

The in-person human bingo game needs eight people or more, one card each, pens and 15 minutes.

  1. Print one card per person. Pick a theme above, set the number of cards and press Print. Every card is different.
  2. Hand out pens and set a timer. Ten to fifteen minutes is right for most groups.
  3. Mingle and ask. Players find someone who fits a square ("Have you worked a night shift?") and write that person's name in it.
  4. One square per person. Each name can appear once per card, so players have to meet more people.
  5. Shout bingo. Five in a row, across, down or diagonally, wins. The free space counts.
  6. Check the story, not just the name. The winner reads out their line, and each named person shares the one-line story behind it.

How to play human bingo on Zoom or Teams

No printing: every player makes their own card on this page and marks it by tapping.

  1. Everyone opens this page. Drop the link in the chat. Each player picks the same theme and gets a different card on their phone or laptop.
  2. Use breakout rooms. Rooms of three or four for three to four minutes, then shuffle. Players ask each other the squares out loud.
  3. Tap squares as you go. Tap a square to mark it, and jot the person's name on paper to prove it later.
  4. Call bingo in the main room. The card says Bingo when you have five in a row. Unmute and read your line.
  5. Play two or three rounds. Shuffle the rooms each round so everyone meets someone new.

120 human bingo questions for work

Each one finishes the line “Find someone who...”. Thirty per theme, all safe for coworkers, and the generator uses exactly these. Pick the Get to know you set for a get to know you bingo card at onboarding or with a newly formed team.

Tips for a bingo game people enjoy

  • Keep every square easy to say yes to. No health, money, family or age prompts. Everything in the bank above passes that test.
  • Mix easy and rare squares. "Drinks 2+ coffees a day" gets a quick yes; "Has been on TV" makes the hunt.
  • Add a follow-up rule. Every yes earns one follow-up question. That's where the real conversation starts.
  • Set a limit on the same person. One square per person per card, or two for groups under ten.
  • Have a small prize. First bingo picks the next meeting's playlist, or wins the good parking spot.
  • Debrief for two minutes. Ask "What surprised you?" and let three people answer.

Five ways to mix it up

  • Blackout. Fill the whole card for a longer game at an offsite or a conference.
  • Four corners. Only the corners count. Fast enough for a 10-minute slot.
  • Team bingo. Pairs share one card. Good for new hires who'd rather not mingle alone.
  • Company edition. Add squares about your own work: tools, offices, products, rituals.
  • Reverse bingo. Read a square out loud, and everyone who fits it unmutes or stands up.

More ways to break the ice: a question of the day, two truths and a lie and icebreakers for large groups.

Icebreaker bingo FAQ

What is icebreaker bingo?

It's a mingling game, also spelled ice breaker bingo and also called human bingo or people bingo. Each card has 24 "find someone who" squares and a free space. Players find a different coworker for each square, write their name in it, and the first to get five in a row wins.

How do you play human bingo?

Give everyone a different card and a pen, set a 10 to 15 minute timer and let people mingle. A player asks someone a square, and if the answer is yes, writes that person's name in it. Each person can only fill one square per card. Five in a row wins.

How do you play icebreaker bingo on Zoom?

Share this page in the chat. Everyone picks the same theme and gets their own card on screen, then breakout rooms of three or four ask each other the squares. Players tap squares to mark them, and the card shows Bingo when a row is complete.

What are good human bingo questions?

Ones that are easy to say yes to and lead to a story: "Has lived in 3+ cities", "Has a hidden talent", "Took a call from a parked car". Avoid health, money, age and family questions. The 120 prompts on this page are all work-appropriate.

How long does icebreaker bingo take?

Ten to fifteen minutes in person for a single bingo, plus a few minutes to hear the stories. On Zoom, plan two or three breakout rounds of three to four minutes each.

Can I print icebreaker bingo cards for free?

Yes. Pick themes and a number of cards, press Generate cards, then Print. Each card prints on its own page with a line in every square for a name, and no two cards are the same.

How many people do you need?

It works from about eight people up to a few hundred. Under eight, allow two squares per person. For big events, print one card per guest and run it while people arrive.
