Good business holiday card messages thank the recipient for the year, wish them well and leave the sales pitch out. Here are 100, written with your company as the sender and sorted by who gets the card. Each group starts with one-liners for a flat card, then two or three lines for a folded one. They default to “happy holidays”; Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year cards have their own group.

How to sign a business holiday card

12 sign-offs to copy, then six rules for who signs and how.

  • With gratitude, [Company]

  • With warm wishes from everyone at [Company]

  • With thanks for a wonderful year,

  • Season's greetings and thanks, [Company]

  • Best wishes for the new year,

  • Gratefully, [Name] and the team at [Company]

  • With appreciation,

  • Warmly, [Name], [Title]

  • Cheers to the year ahead,

  • From all of us, with thanks,

  • Kind regards and happy holidays,

  • With our thanks and best wishes,

  1. Print the company, sign the people. The company name can be printed. Names should be signed by hand, in ink.
  2. The person who knows them best signs. One signature from the account owner beats ten from people the client has never met.
  3. Several signers? Keep it to the team they know. Two to four names, each signed by its owner, never one person signing for everyone.
  4. Add one line by hand. A first name and one personal line turn a printed card into a note.
  5. Check every name and title. A misspelled name is the one thing a recipient always notices.
  6. Ask where to send it. Hybrid staff may not see an office mailbox for weeks, so confirm the address.

When to send business holiday cards

Cards should land before people leave for the break, so work back from the first half of December.

  1. Early November: build the list, check names and addresses, choose the card.
  2. By mid-November: order printed cards and gifts. Branded or 100+ gift orders need 4 to 6 weeks, so place those first.
  3. Late November: mail international cards.
  4. First half of December: mail everything else, so cards land before people leave for the break.
  5. Missed it? Send a New Year card in the first two weeks of January.

For 2026, USPS’s recommended send-by date for First-Class Mail in the lower 48 states is Thursday, December 17 (Priority Mail: Friday, December 18), and Wednesday, December 9 for First-Class Package International and Priority Mail International. Treat those as the last possible day, not the plan. See the USPS holiday dates.

Do

  • Thank them for something specific.
  • Keep the printed message neutral; add warmth by hand.
  • Match the card to the relationship: formal for a board, warmer for a long-time client.
  • Mail in the first half of December.

Don't

  • Add a coupon, a sales pitch or a brochure.
  • Print a holiday's name for a list you haven't checked.
  • Use inside jokes, emojis or puns a client could misread.
  • Send a card with no signature at all.

Closing the office over the break? Set your holiday out of office message before you leave.

Add a gift to the card

For your best clients and partners, the card can travel inside a gift.

  • Client gifts. Chocolate gift boxes and collections from $22, each shipped to its own address with your card message inside.
  • Holiday gifts for everyone on the list. Our corporate holiday gifts are grouped by budget. Minimums are typically 10 units per product, and smaller unbranded orders need about 2 to 3 weeks.
  • With your logo. Custom logo gifts add logo ribbon, branded inserts or tags. Allow 4 to 6 weeks for anything branded.
  • For your own team. A virtual holiday party with a live host, booked about 2 weeks ahead. December dates fill first.

Business holiday card FAQ

What do you write in a business holiday card?

Thank the recipient for the year, wish them well for the season and the new year, and sign it by hand. One or two sentences is enough for a flat card. Add one handwritten line about something you did together if you know the person.

What do you write in a holiday card to clients?

Thank them for their trust or their business, mention the work you did together if you can, and wish them a good season. Leave out offers and sales lines; a card with a pitch reads as an ad.

Should a business card say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

For a list of clients or partners, "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" includes everyone. Use "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukkah" only for recipients you know celebrate it. A New Year card works across cultures and can arrive in January.

How do you sign a company holiday card? Should everyone sign?

Print the company name, then have the people who work with the recipient sign by hand, usually one to four of them. The person who knows the recipient best adds a personal line. Never have one person sign everyone's names.

When should businesses send holiday cards?

Mail them in the first half of December, so they arrive before people leave for the break, and mail international cards in late November. If you're late, send a New Year card in the first two weeks of January.

What do you write in a holiday card to vendors or suppliers?

Thank them for reliability and for specific help, such as a rush order or a hard deadline, and wish their whole team a good season. Address it to the team as well as your contact, since many people keep your orders moving.

Are digital holiday cards OK for clients?

Yes, for clients you mostly work with online or overseas, and when sending by mail isn't practical. A personal line and a real signature still matter. A paper card is the one people keep on their desk.

Should you include a gift with a client holiday card?

A gift isn't expected, but it makes the thank-you stronger for your best clients. Check their company's gift policy, keep the gift modest with any logo on the packaging rather than the product, and let the card carry the message. Our client gifts ship to each address with your note inside.

Send a gift with the card

Client and holiday gifts ship to every address with your note inside. Branded or 100+ gift orders need 4 to 6 weeks, so order in November.
