When to book, and where kits ship

December dates fill first, so for a December class, book by mid-November.

21 days outBook. 16 days is the minimum; 21 gives guests a week to send addresses. An estimated headcount is fine.
14 days outGuests' shipping addresses are due. Share the address form a week before.
3 days outKits are expected at every door, with time left to fix a delivery problem.
Outside the USAddresses are due 4 weeks out, so book about 5 weeks ahead.

How does a virtual wood burning class work?

Every guest gets a wood burning kit at home before the day. On the call, a live instructor walks everyone through warming up on practice wood, tracing a design onto the wood slice, burning it, then adding color and a gloss finish. It runs 60 minutes on Zoom by default, or Teams, Google Meet or Webex.

How much does a virtual wood burning class cost per person?

Wood Burning is $75 a person plus a $379 base fee: $2,254 in total for 25 guests, about $91 a person. The kit and continental US shipping are included, and a 50% deposit holds the date.

What's in the wood burning kit, and what do guests need at home?

A wood burning tool, a large wood slice, three pine coasters, practice wood, transfer paper, sample designs, 16 paint colors, a paint brush, a foam brush and gloss finish. Guests need a 120V (US) electrical outlet, tape, scissors and a pen or pencil.

Do guests need any wood burning experience?

The kit is built to help: guests test the tool on practice wood first, then trace a sample design with transfer paper, so nobody draws freehand. The sample designs range from simple to intricate, and the instructor shows each step on camera.

Can wood burning kits ship to Canada or outside the US?

Continental US shipping is included. Alaska, Hawaii and US territories add $75 a guest and Canada $60 a guest. The kit does not ship to international addresses. With guests in Canada, book about 5 weeks ahead to allow for customs and delivery.

How far ahead should we book, and can we reschedule?

Book about 3 weeks ahead; 16 days is the minimum. Guests' addresses are due 14 days before the class, and kits are expected at least 3 days before it. Rescheduling is free up to 14 days before the class; after that a $200 fee applies.

Do guests keep the wood burning tool?

Yes. The tool is part of the kit and stays with each guest after the class, along with the wood slice and coasters they made. It may just become a new hobby.

Is a virtual wood burning class the same as a pyrography class?

Yes. Pyrography is the formal name for wood burning: decorating wood with burn marks from a heated tool. This is a pyrography class online, with every tool and material shipped to each guest. For other kit classes, see our craft workshops.
