Virtual candle making class questions
How does a virtual candle making class work?
Every guest gets a candle making kit at their own address before the day. On the call, a live host walks the group through setting the wicks, melting the soy wax, blending a scent and pouring two candles. It runs 60 minutes on Zoom by default, or Teams, Google Meet or Webex.
How much does a virtual candle making class cost per person?
Candle Making is $68 a person plus a $379 base fee: $2,079 in total for 25 guests, about $84 a person. Kits and continental US shipping are included, and a 50% deposit holds the date.
What comes in the candle making kit, and what do guests need at home?
Two candle votives, premium soy wax, a microwaveable melting container, three essential oils, wicks, wick holders and wick stickers. Guests need a microwave, or a stovetop with a pot and a heat-safe bowl, plus a device for the call.
How far in advance should we book?
The minimum is 16 days before the class, but about 3 weeks is better: guests' addresses are due 14 days before the class, so booking 21 days out gives people a week to send them. Kits are expected at least 3 days before the class. For any December date, book by November 10.
Do the candle kits ship outside the US?
Candle Making kits ship to the continental US with shipping included. Other addresses add a per-guest fee: Alaska, Hawaii & US territories +$75, Canada +$60 and International +$45. Outside the US, book about 5 weeks ahead.
Is candle making good team building for a remote or mixed team?
Yes. It needs no skill, everyone's hands are busy, so talk comes easily, and each guest has their own kit, so a small team and a whole department run the same way. Quieter people can take part without being put on the spot.
Can guests with scent sensitivities join?
The three essential oils come in the kit for each guest to add to their own wax, so anyone can use a drop or leave a candle unscented. Tell us about sensitivities when you book.
How is this different from online candle making classes?
Most online candle making classes are recorded courses or public sessions for one person. This is a private class for your team only: one host, a kit shipped to each guest's address, and one invoice for the whole group. Making candles on your own? Try candle making at home with a double boiler.
