A sample two-hour party in Boston

A Tuesday, 2:00 to 4:00 pm, 70 guests. An afternoon party: the sun sets around 4:15 in December, so ending at 4 gets commuter rail riders and drivers on their way in the last of the daylight.

  1. Before 2:00

    Screen and scoring ready

The host connects to your TV or projector and tests the QR code game before anyone sits down. Setup and cleanup are on us.

  2. 2:00 pm

    Feud Night

Mix the tables on purpose. Feud Night works best when people who rarely sit together have to agree on one answer, and a captain locks it in by QR code.

  3. 3:00 pm

    Coffee and a few words

Five minutes for a refill and a thank-you from leadership while the host switches games.

  4. 3:05 pm

    Blitz-Speed Trivia

Now it's every player for themselves on their own phone. Faster answers score more, so the quiet competitors in the room get their moment.

  5. 4:05 pm

    One winner, then South Station

The Staircase leaves one player at the top. Everyone else is out the door before North Station and South Station fill up.

At 70 guests: Feud Night $2,200 + Blitz-Speed Trivia $2,200 = $4,400 at list prices.

Planning a December party in Boston

Whether your team sits in Back Bay, the Seaport, Kendall Square or out along Route 128, these are the Boston details that shape a December party.

  1. Work with the early dark

Boston has one of the earliest December sunsets of any big US city, a little after 4 pm. An afternoon party ends in daylight, and people who would skip a dark evening event stay for it.

  2. Time it to the commuter rail

Plenty of Boston teams ride MBTA Commuter Rail in from the suburbs, and a missed train can mean a long wait for the next one. Ending by 4 or 4:30 lets them keep their usual train or catch an earlier one.

  3. Snow, slush and harbor wind

December can bring snow, slush and a cold wind off the harbor, which the Seaport and the waterfront feel first. A party on your own floor means boots and coats stay at desks and nobody walks between buildings.

  4. Lab buildings have their own rules

Kendall Square and the Longwood area have a lot of lab space, where food and drinks are kept out of some floors. Ask your building which rooms allow food and outside vendors, and hold the party there.

Boston holiday party questions

How much does office holiday party entertainment cost in Boston?

Feud Night, Music Bingo, Team Trivia and Blitz-Speed Trivia are $1,750 for up to 50 guests, plus $450 for each additional 50. Canvas Painting is $55 a person plus a $750 base fee. Watercolor Card Decorating is $52 a person plus a $750 base fee. That covers the host, the game and, for the painting formats, every supply. Food, drinks and the room are yours to arrange.

How far ahead should we book a December holiday party in Boston?

Book hosted games at least 2 weeks ahead and painting workshops at least 3 weeks ahead; branding or custom questions need 4 weeks. For Thursday, Dec 17, that means booking games by Dec 3 and painting by Nov 26. If your date is sooner than that, ask us; we confirm what we can run in your plan.

Do you come to offices in Cambridge and along Route 128?

Our hosts travel to offices and venues in the Boston area. Send the address with your date and we confirm coverage for addresses outside the city, like Cambridge, Waltham or Burlington, when we send your plan.

Can we hold our Boston party in the afternoon so it ends before dark?

Yes, and in December it is often the better choice. A 2 to 4 pm party holds two formats of about an hour each and wraps up close to sunset, which comes a little after 4. Because it stays inside the workday, commuter rail riders don't have to choose between the party and their train.

What do we need to provide for a party at our office?

A room with tables and chairs, a TV or projector with an HDMI cable for the games, and phones to scan a QR code. The painting formats also need water access and trash cans. We bring the host, the game, the scoring and, for painting, every supply, and we handle setup and cleanup.

What if more people show up than we planned for?

Give us your best headcount estimate; we use it to plan hosts and support. We can take extra guests on the day, and if attendance is well over your estimate we invoice the difference.

Can remote employees join the party?

The in-person formats are built for people in the room. For remote staff, book a virtual holiday party on Zoom (Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request) on another day, or run one for the whole company.

Can we add holiday gifts for the team?

Yes. Pair the party with corporate holiday gifts shipped to each person, which also covers anyone who can't make it to the office that day.
