A sample two-hour party in Pittsburgh

A Thursday, 1:00 to 3:00 pm, 30 guests. A workshop-only party for a calmer office: it starts after lunch and ends at 3, so drivers are through the tunnels before the evening backup.

  1. Before 1:00

    Two workshops, one setup

The host lays out easels, canvas boards and aprons, with watercolor paper ready for the second hour. You provide water access and trash cans.

  2. 1:00 pm

    Canvas Painting

A guided acrylic painting on a 12 x 16 inch canvas board. No experience needed, and everyone ends the hour with a finished canvas.

  3. 2:00 pm

    Canvases off to dry

Paintings move to a side table and the same seats switch to watercolor paper.

  4. 2:05 pm

    Watercolor Card Decorating

A set of four cards with the host guiding the techniques. Everyone signs one for a teammate before they go.

  5. 3:05 pm

    Home ahead of the Parkway

Two pieces to take home, and the drive out of town is still an easy one.

At 30 guests: Canvas Painting $2,400 + Watercolor Card Decorating $2,310 = $4,710 at list prices.

Planning a December party in Pittsburgh

Whether your team sits Downtown, in Oakland or out in Cranberry or Southpointe, these are the Pittsburgh details that shape a December party.

  1. Bridges and tunnels set the clock

Most routes into Downtown cross a river or run through a tunnel, and the Fort Pitt, Squirrel Hill and Liberty tunnels back up at rush hour. A party that ends by 3 gets drivers home before that starts.

  2. Hills, ice and early dark

December brings cold, snow and freezing rain, and Pittsburgh's steep streets are quick to get slick. A party at your own office, in daylight, means nobody drives an unfamiliar hill to a venue after dark.

  3. North Shore offices and game days

Offices on the North Shore sit next to the Steelers' stadium, and when a home game lands on a weeknight, the garages and lots there fill well before kickoff. A daytime party keeps your guests clear of the pregame crowd, one more reason this plan ends at 3.

  4. Keep bus and T riders on schedule

Many people ride PRT buses, the busways or the T light rail in from the South Hills. A party inside the workday lets them ride home on their usual bus or train instead of a later one.

Pittsburgh holiday party questions

How much does office holiday party entertainment cost in Pittsburgh?

Feud Night, Music Bingo, Team Trivia and Blitz-Speed Trivia are $1,750 for up to 50 guests, plus $450 for each additional 50. Canvas Painting is $55 a person plus a $750 base fee. Watercolor Card Decorating is $52 a person plus a $750 base fee. That covers the host, the game and, for the painting formats, every supply. Food, drinks and the room are yours to arrange.

How far ahead should we book a December holiday party in Pittsburgh?

Book hosted games at least 2 weeks ahead and painting workshops at least 3 weeks ahead; branding or custom questions need 4 weeks. For Thursday, Dec 17, that means booking games by Dec 3 and painting by Nov 26. If your date is sooner than that, ask us; we confirm what we can run in your plan.

Do you come to offices in Cranberry, Southpointe or Robinson?

Our hosts travel to offices and venues in the Pittsburgh area. Send the address with your date and we confirm coverage for addresses outside the city when we send your plan.

Can we have a painting-only holiday party in Pittsburgh?

Yes. Canvas Painting and Watercolor Card Decorating each run about an hour, so the two fill a two-hour party, and everyone leaves with a canvas and a set of cards. Painting needs at least 3 weeks' notice, so book a workshop party earlier than a game.

What do we need to provide for a party at our office?

A room with tables and chairs, a TV or projector with an HDMI cable for the games, and phones to scan a QR code. The painting formats also need water access and trash cans. We bring the host, the game, the scoring and, for painting, every supply, and we handle setup and cleanup.

What if more people show up than we planned for?

Give us your best headcount estimate; we use it to plan hosts and support. We can take extra guests on the day, and if attendance is well over your estimate we invoice the difference.

Can remote employees join the party?

The in-person formats are built for people in the room. For remote staff, book a virtual holiday party on Zoom (Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request) on another day, or run one for the whole company.

Can we add holiday gifts for the team?

Yes. Pair the party with corporate holiday gifts shipped to each person, which also covers anyone who can't make it to the office that day.
