Diversity calendar 2027: every DEI date, month by month

123 heritage months, religious holidays and awareness days for 2027.

KraftyLab TeamUpdated 14 min read
A coworker sticks a pink note onto a large wall calendar grid framed by colorful paper shapes.

This diversity calendar lists the 2027 dates US teams plan around: heritage months, religious and cultural holidays from many faiths, and inclusion awareness days, with the rest of 2026 up front. Every moving date was checked against two sources. Each entry says what the day is and, where it matters, how it affects work: who may be fasting, who may be out, and which days to keep clear.

Avoid scheduling marks major holidays: keep big meetings, deadlines and food events off them. Jewish holidays begin at sundown the evening before. Islamic dates are expected and can move by a day with the moon.

How to use a diversity calendar at work

A DEI calendar does most of its good quietly, in the meetings that don't get booked. Six habits make it work.

  1. Check it before you schedule. The most useful thing a DEI calendar does is quiet: no all-hands on Yom Kippur, no team lunch in the middle of Ramadan, no launch on Diwali.
  2. Pick four to six anchors, not sixty. Choose the observances that matter to your people and give each a real moment. A post for every date on this page reads as box-ticking.
  3. Ask your employee resource groups first. Bring them the dates in January, ask what they want marked and how, and give them a budget. Nobody should learn about their own heritage month from a company email.
  4. Learn something, don't just post something. A paid speaker, a workshop or a history quiz teaches more than a logo in new colors. Pay the people you ask to speak, colleagues included.
  5. Make time off easy. Floating holidays let people take the days that matter to them without asking for a favor, and managers should approve them without questions.
  6. Mind the food and the clock. During fasts, move events away from lunch, offer a take-home option, and keep late-afternoon meetings short. Label every dish at every event.
Coworkers serve each other at an office kitchen table set with dishes from many cuisines.

Looking for activity ideas rather than observances? The employee engagement calendar has one idea per date, a DEI tip of the day covers the everyday habits, and inclusive holiday party ideas handle December.

Mark the big months with a host

For the four to six dates you pick, a hosted session does the teaching for you. Our heritage month events are live-hosted history games, and our DEI workshops cover the foundations and allyship. Each runs about an hour on Zoom by default (Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request), books about 2 weeks ahead, and can run as two sessions for teams split across time zones.

Planning several months at once? Send us your shortlist and get a free quote for the year within 24 hours.

Where the dates come from

Each date was checked against two sources, led by Hebcal (Jewish holidays), Fiqh Council of North America (Islamic dates), mypanchang (Hindu dates, US locations), Bahá'í World Centre (Bahá'í dates), US Office of Personnel Management (federal holidays) and United Nations (international days). Communities can follow different calendars, so ask colleagues which day they keep. Updated October 2026.

Diversity calendar FAQ

What is a DEI calendar, and how do you use one at work?

A DEI calendar, or diversity calendar, lists the heritage months, religious and cultural holidays and awareness days your colleagues may observe. Use it two ways: to schedule around major holidays, and to pick a handful of dates to mark well, planned with the people they honor.

What are the heritage months in the US?

The most widely observed are Black History Month (February), Women's History Month (March), Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May), Jewish American Heritage Month (May), Pride Month (June), National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) and Native American Heritage Month (November). Arab American (April), Caribbean American (June) and Filipino American (October) months are also common.

When is Ramadan 2027, and how can I support fasting coworkers?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Feb 8 (at sundown the evening before) and end with Eid al-Fitr on Tue, Mar 9 or the day after; exact dates depend on the moon. Keep meetings off lunch, offer take-home food at events, keep late-afternoon meetings short, and support flexible hours for people breaking the fast at sunset.

Why do Jewish holidays start the evening before?

In the Hebrew calendar a day runs from sundown to sundown, so every Jewish holiday begins at sunset the evening before its first full day. Yom Kippur, for example, starts at sundown and ends at nightfall the next day, so colleagues may leave early the afternoon before.

Which religious holidays should we avoid scheduling meetings on?

Keep big meetings, deadlines and food events off Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, the first days of Passover, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Diwali, Good Friday and Christmas, and expect people out on Lunar New Year and Orthodox Easter. The list on this page marks each of them.

Is there a Diversity Month or a Diversity Day?

Some schools and organizations promote April as Celebrate Diversity Month, but it has no official designation, so we leave it off the calendar. The United Nations marks May 21 as the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, the closest thing to an official Diversity Day.

Should we mark every date on a diversity calendar?

No. Treat the full list as a scheduling guide, then choose four to six observances a year that matter to your team and do them well. Our DEI tip of the day and employee engagement calendar help fill the weeks between.

Can I import these dates into Outlook or Google Calendar?

Yes. The download button saves every date still to come as one .ics file, which Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar all import. Each date comes in as an all-day event marked free, so it never blocks meeting slots.
