How to run Thanksgiving team building on video
Five things that make the difference between a call people mute and one they talk about.
- 01
Go a week early
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is half travel day. The week before, or Monday and Tuesday of the holiday week, gets everyone on the call.
- 02
Gratitude in one sentence
A round of long reflections drags on a video call. One sentence each keeps it warm and moving, which is why every card in our deck is a single short prompt.
- 03
Put the same food on every screen
Sharing a meal is the point of Friendsgiving. A charcuterie or cookie kit means everyone is eating the same thing at the same time, wherever they are.
- 04
Make room for people who do not celebrate
Frame it as a fall get-together and a thank-you, not a holiday quiz. Fall Fun & Games and Gratitude Games & Grins work for any team.
- 05
End with names
Close with a leader thanking specific people for specific things. It takes two minutes and it is the part people remember.

Virtual Thanksgiving questions
When should we book a virtual Thanksgiving event?
Thanksgiving is Thu, Nov 26. For a team party by Tue, Nov 24, book kit events by Tue, Nov 3 (kits need 3 weeks) and hosted games by Tue, Nov 10 (games need 2 weeks). Sooner than that? Ask us.
How much does a virtual Thanksgiving activity cost?
Hosted games are packages from about $34 a person for up to 25 people, and bigger groups add more teams. Kit workshops are priced per person plus a base fee, with continental US shipping included. Every card on this page shows the live price.
What is a virtual Friendsgiving?
A team Thanksgiving on a video call. People bring a plate or a drink, share what they are grateful for, and play a game or make something together. Our kits put the same food or craft in front of everyone, so it feels like one table.
Which video platforms do you use?
Zoom by default. Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request.
Can you include teammates outside the US?
Yes. Hosted games work anywhere your video call does. Kits ship to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, US territories and international addresses for an added shipping charge; allow 3 to 4 weeks. Canadian Thanksgiving is Mon, Oct 12, if your team celebrates both. See how global shipping works.
Can you host a big group?
Yes. Bigger groups get more teams, each in its own breakout room, and we may add a tech assistant. For company-wide events, see multi-event programs.
Is there a free Thanksgiving activity for remote teams?
Yes. Use the gratitude prompt deck on this page for a ten-minute round at your next meeting, or our free Thanksgiving trivia questions.
