Team building for manufacturing companies

Team building for manufacturing companies works when every shift gets the same event: a 45 or 60 minute hosted game on the break room screen, run once per shift, with other plants on the same call. Kits for home and a host at your plant in 17 US cities cover the rest.

8 manufacturing team building activities

Seated games a whole shift plays from one screen, holiday editions for December, and kits people make at home. Every one has a live host, and prices are live from our catalog.

Hosted games need about 2 weeks; kit workshops about 3 weeks for US addresses. See all activities.

Team building for plant employees on every shift

A line that runs around the clock can't stop for one party. Book the same event once per shift, inside the shift, as paid time.

  • First shift

    Late morning or before lunch

Run it after the start-up rush, as paid time in the break room. Stagger lines so the floor stays covered.
  • Second shift

Early in the shift, not at the end

Book the same game an hour or two after start. Nobody wants a quiz at 11 pm after eight hours on the line.
  • Third shift

    Give nights a real slot

Night shift misses every daytime event. Ask for a session inside their shift in the quote form, and we check host times.
  • Office and salaried staff

Mix them in, don't split them off

Engineers, planners and HR join a production shift's session, so the office meets the floor.

What every shift costs. A hosted game is one package for up to 25 guests with added guests in blocks, so each shift pays for its own session. A kit is priced per person, so three sessions cost about the same as one big one, plus two base fees.

The break room, your plant, or home

Three ways plants run it. Most mix the first two for the shifts and the office, and add a kit for December.

  • A game on the break room screen

A hosted virtual game on the TV in the break room or training room. One laptop on the call, one person types the answers, the room plays as a team. Zoom by default, or Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request.
  • A host at your plant

In 17 US cities a host runs Feud Night, Music Bingo or live trivia in your break room or conference room, away from the floor. Feud Night is $1,750 for up to 50 guests. See in-person events.
  • A kit at home with the family

A box ships to each home and people make it together on video on a weekend, kids at the table. Continental US shipping is included. See team building kits.

Several plants on one call

A company with plants in three states can still hold one event. Each site joins from its own break room.

  • Each plant plays as a team

Every break room joins the same call on its own screen. The host scores by team, so plant plays plant.
  • Pick a time that works in every time zone

A 1 pm Eastern game is 10 am Pacific. If no single time fits every site's shifts, book two sessions.
  • Headquarters joins from their desks

Office staff play on their own laptops as their own team, or join a plant's team.
  • One plan, one invoice

Several sessions across plants and shifts are planned as one multi-event program, billed together.

Break room setup

  • Sound first. Break rooms near the floor are loud. Use a speaker, not the laptop, and close the door.
  • One laptop and one screen. The laptop joins the call and shares the host on the TV.
  • Test the link the day before. Plant Wi-Fi and firewalls block video more often than office networks.
  • Phones for Music Bingo. Players scan a code to get their card, so check that phones are allowed in the room.

Safety culture, and what we don't do

A plant runs on safety rules, and a team event should never compete with them. So everything we run is seated, off the floor, and is not training.

What we run

  • Seated hosted games and workshops, about 60 minutes, with a live host.
  • Games in the break room, training room or conference room, never on the production floor.
  • Kit workshops people make at home, with the family if they like.
  • Hosts at your site in 17 US cities, painting workshops in 30.

What we don't

  • Outdoor challenges, ropes courses or sports days.
  • Physical competitions on or near the line.
  • Safety training. No event counts toward any required training or replaces your safety meetings.
  • Plant tours or anything that needs PPE.

Production peaks, shutdown weeks and the holidays

Book around the plant's calendar, not the office's. Here are the dates that matter and when to book for each.

  1. Dec 11, 2026

A holiday party for every shift

Run the same game three times on Friday, December 11, one session per shift. Book a hosted game by November 27, 2026, or a kit workshop by November 20, 2026. More ideas on the virtual holiday party page.
  2. Jan 5, 2027

    Back from a year-end shutdown

If your plant shuts down over the holidays, a game on the first days back starts the year together. For Tuesday, January 5, 2027, book by December 22, 2026.
  3. June 2027

    Before a summer shutdown

Plants that close for a week in summer can hold a game the week before. For Thursday, June 24, 2027, book a hosted game by June 10, 2027.
  4. October 2027

    Manufacturing Day

The Manufacturing Institute holds MFG Day on the first Friday in October, with events through the month; in 2026 it was October 2 (mfgday.com). Check the site for the 2027 date. If your plant hosts tours, thank the crew who ran them later that month.

Stay out of the peak

  • Ask production planning for the weeks with the least scheduled overtime, and book there.
  • Skip quarter-end shipping pushes and audit weeks.
  • Book a few weeks out: about 2 weeks for a hosted game, 3 weeks for a kit to US homes.
  • Read the rescheduling terms on the activity page before booking a month when rush orders can land.

Manufacturing team building questions

What are good team building activities for manufacturing companies?

Seated hosted games that a whole shift plays from one break room screen: trivia, a survey-answer game show or Music Bingo, about 45 to 60 minutes each with a live host. Kit workshops like cookie decorating suit a weekend at home with family. Nobody on the plant team has to plan or run anything.

How do we include every shift?

Book the same event once per shift, at a time that falls inside each shift rather than at the end of it. Each session is its own booking with its own live host, so first, second and third shift all get the same event.

How much does team building for a plant cost?

A hosted virtual game is one package for up to 25 guests (Trivia with a Twist is $975), with added guests in blocks, so three shifts means three packages. Kit workshops are a base fee plus a price per kit, with continental US shipping included. Each activity page shows the price for your headcount.

Can a host come to our plant?

In 17 US cities a host can run Feud Night, Music Bingo or live trivia in your break room or conference room. Feud Night is $1,750 for up to 50 guests. The host stays off the production floor; tell us your visitor rules when you book.

Can several plants play together?

Yes. Each plant's break room joins the same video call as its own team, and headquarters joins from their desks. If the sites' shifts or time zones don't line up, book two sessions.

Do you run outdoor or physical team building?

No. Our events are hosted games, workshops and kits, played seated. If you want a sports day or an outdoor challenge, we are not the right fit for that part of your plan.

Does an event count as safety training?

No. Our games and workshops are for fun and getting to know each other. They do not count toward any required training and do not replace your safety meetings.
