New hire gifts that arrive before day one
A good new hire gift is a small treat plus a note from their manager, timed to land before the first day. Ours start at $22 and ship to each new hire's home or desk.
What goes in a new hire welcome kit
Six parts. IT sends the laptop; the welcome kit is the human part, and the note does most of the work.
- 1.A note from their manager. Three lines: glad you're here, what you'll work on first, who to ask.
- 2.One treat to open on day one. Something they can enjoy at the desk or the kitchen table, not something to assemble.
- 3.A first-week plan. One page with names, meeting times and where to find things.
- 4.Something useful for the desk. A good pen and notebook or a mug, picked for use rather than for the logo.
- 5.A message from the team. A card with a line from each person they'll work with.
- 6.Their first team event on the calendar. A date in week one or two, so the welcome keeps going after the box is open.
We send the treat and the note, packed and shipped to each new hire. For ideas to fill the first week, see our onboarding activities guide.
When to send a new hire gift
Order when the offer is signed so it lands two or three workdays before the start date. If day one is closer than the lead time, send the note now and let the gift follow in week one.
Offer signed: order the gift. Smaller unbranded orders take about 2 to 3 weeks; 100+ or branded take 4 to 6.
Pre-boarding form: ask two questions. Where should we send a welcome package, and any allergies we should know about?
Two or three workdays before the start date: it arrives. Early enough to fix a missed delivery, close enough that it still feels like a welcome.
Day one: the manager mentions it. A quick "did the box arrive?" on the first call tells them someone planned for them.
Week one or two: the team event. Meeting people over a shared activity beats a round of introductions on a status call.

Welcome gifts for remote new hires
Each gift ships to its own address, home or office, in the US and internationally, with your note inside.
Ask for the address in the pre-boarding form.
Never guess from the offer letter; people move before they start.
Time it to the start date, not the order date.
A box that lands a month early is forgotten by day one.
Open it together.
Leave five minutes on the first team call for the new hire to open it on camera, if they want to.
Send the same gift to the office hire.
Remote and office starters in the same month get the same welcome.
Branded or unbranded?
Both work. The real difference is lead time.
Unbranded ships sooner.
About 2 to 3 weeks for smaller orders, which fits a start date set two weeks after the offer.
Branded needs 4 to 6 weeks.
Logo ribbon, a branded insert or a gift tag. Plan it for onboarding cohorts you know about in advance.
Keep the logo on the wrapping.
The gift should feel like a welcome, not like merchandise. Ribbon and tags do that.
Put company swag in its own order.
Branded items have their own options and lead times, so keep them apart from the welcome gift.

What to write in the welcome note
Say you're glad they're here and what happens first. Copy one and make it yours.
For a card the whole team signs, see our welcome to the team messages.
- We've been saving you a seat. Something sweet for your first morning, and we'll see you at 10.
- Welcome aboard! Your first week is mostly coffee chats and questions, so ask all of them.
- We picked you for a reason, and we're glad you said yes. Enjoy these before the calendar fills up.
- A small hello from your new team. The real welcome is the lunch on Thursday.
- Everyone here remembers their first day. We hope yours starts with chocolate.
- Glad you're joining us. If anything on day one is confusing, that's on us, not you.

New hire gift questions
What is a good welcome gift for a new employee?
Something they can enjoy on their first day, such as a chocolate gift box or truffle collection, with a handwritten note from their manager that names what they'll work on. The note matters more than the price. Skip anything they'd need to assemble or return.
What goes in a new employee welcome kit?
A welcome note from the manager, one treat to open on day one, something useful for their desk, and a one-page first-week plan with names and times. Laptop and accounts come from IT; the kit is the human part. Our gifts cover the treat and the note.
How much should a company spend on a new hire gift?
There is no standard amount. Pick one amount for every new hire so nobody compares, and keep it modest: a welcome, not a bonus. Our gifts start at $22, and under $40 covers a gift box or truffle collection. A bigger box from the team suits a senior hire or a whole new team.
When should a new hire welcome gift arrive?
Two or three workdays before their start date, so it's waiting on day one. Order when the offer is signed: smaller unbranded orders take about 2 to 3 weeks, and 100 or more gifts or anything branded takes 4 to 6 weeks. If the start date is closer than that, send the note now and let the gift follow in week one.
Can you ship welcome gifts to remote new hires?
Yes. Each gift is packed and shipped to its own address, home or office, in the US and internationally, with your note inside. Timing and regional shipping charges depend on the destination.
Should new hire gifts have our logo on them?
Keep it light. A logo ribbon, a branded insert or a gift tag makes it feel like a welcome from the company without turning it into merchandise. Branding needs the longer 4 to 6 week lead time, so it suits onboarding cohorts you can plan ahead.
Is there a minimum order?
Gifts can be ordered online from our partner store. For a batch of hires or anything branded, minimums are typically 10 units per product, and larger orders get tiered volume pricing in your quote.
What about allergies or dietary restrictions?
Every gift on this page is chocolate. Ask about allergies in your pre-boarding form, check each product's ingredient details, and ask us for an alternative for anyone who can't have it.
