  3. Minutes 50 to 55: the tiebreaker. If two teams are level, ask in what year MTV first went on air. The answer is 1981, and the closest guess wins.
  4. Minutes 55 to 60: winners and photos. Announce third, second and first place, hand over a small prize and take the team photo while everyone is still smiling.

House rules to read out first

  • One point per correct answer, two in the final round.
  • Phones face down. Looking it up costs the round.
  • The host's answer sheet is final, even when someone is sure it's wrong.
  • Accept last names and close spellings. It's a party, not a spelling test.

For a printable score sheet and more on timing, see how to host a trivia night. Want a sixth round? Add general knowledge from our trivia questions for work or fun trivia questions, and in December swap the decades round for Christmas movie trivia.

Pop culture trivia FAQ

What are some easy pop culture trivia questions?

Start with things almost everyone knows: which school Harry Potter attends (Hogwarts), who Mario's brother is (Luigi), what kind of fish Nemo is (a clownfish) and which film features “Let It Go” (Frozen). The easy round on this page has twelve like these.

What are some hard pop culture trivia questions?

Try the flight number in Lost (815), the ship in Alien (the Nostromo), the metal on Wolverine's claws (adamantium) or the year of the first Academy Awards (1929). The hard round here has eight, best saved for double points.

What counts as pop culture?

Pop culture is the entertainment most people share: movies, TV, music, video games, bestselling books, comics, internet trends and award shows. A good pop culture quiz mixes all of them and several decades, so no single age group runs away with it.

Are these pop culture trivia answers up to date?

They are built to stay right. Every question is about a settled fact, such as a release year, a character name or award history, and none depends on a record that could be broken or on anything after 2023. We left out gossip about people's private lives entirely.

How many pop culture questions do you need for a quiz?

For an hour-long pop culture quiz, plan 50: five rounds of ten, with time to read answers and scores between rounds. The quiz night plan on this page picks 50 of the 150 questions for you. For a 15-minute meeting opener, one round of ten is plenty.

How do you play pop culture trivia on Zoom?

Share the questions on screen, send teams to breakout rooms to agree on answers, and have one person per team send them to the host in a private chat. Our guide on how to host a trivia night covers timing, scoring and a printable score sheet.

Can KraftyLab host a pop culture trivia night for our team?

Yes. Our hosts run live trivia on Zoom (Teams, Google Meet or Webex on request) or at your office in 17 US cities, with the questions, scoring and timing handled. Book about 2 weeks ahead, or allow 4 weeks for custom questions, and get a free quote with your date and headcount.
