Get well gifts for coworkers, employees and clients
A good get well gift for a coworker is small and easy to enjoy from the sofa, sent to their home with one card the whole team signed. Check allergies first. Gift boxes from $22.
What to send, and when
It depends on how long they'll be out. A message always; a gift once it's more than a few days.
A few days off sick
A message is enough. Save the gift; a box that lands after they're back feels odd.
A planned surgery
Ask when they get home, and time the gift for their first week of recovery.
A hospital stay
Send to their home, not the ward. Some hospital units don't allow food or flowers.
A long leave
One gift early on, a short card halfway through, then a quiet welcome back.

Each gift opens our partner store, where you can order one online. Want one standard get well gift HR can send whenever someone is out on leave? Ask us to set it up.
A get well gift from the whole team
One gift and one card from everyone, sent to their home. Six steps, most of them five minutes each.
Check with their manager. They know whether a gift is welcome right now, and whether HR already sends one.
Get the address through HR. Never ask the person, and never post it in the team chat.
Make chipping in optional. Suggest a small amount, accept nothing, and keep the list of who paid private.
Sign one card together. A paper card on a desk or one shared digital card. A line and a name each.
Send one gift home. One box from everyone is easier to accept than ten.
Name one contact. One teammate checks in now and then, so their phone stays quiet.

Short lines for the card
Two to four sentences is the right length: wish them well, take work off their mind, and ask for no reply.
From you
- Rest up. The coffee machine misses you, and so do I.
- Sending a small treat for the sofa. No reply needed.
From the team
- From all of us: get well, take your time, and don't check email.
- Your projects are in good hands. Just focus on feeling better.
For a client
- Wishing you a smooth recovery from all of us here.
- Everything on our side is on track. Take the time you need.

Before you send chocolate: four checks
A gift they can't eat, or one delivered to a ward that turns it away, does more harm than no gift.
Ask about allergies and diet.
Our gifts are chocolate. After surgery or during treatment some people are on a restricted diet, so ask a close colleague or their manager first.
Check the ingredients.
Look for nuts, dairy and anything else they avoid before you order. Not sure? Ask us before you send.
Home, not the hospital.
Some hospital units don't allow food or flowers. Send it to their home for when they're back.
For a client, check their gift rules.
Some companies cap or refuse gifts from vendors. A card on its own is always fine.
A few gentle rules
What helps, and what to leave out of the card and the chat.
Don't ask what's wrong.
They'll share what they want to. The card says you care, nothing more.
Keep health details private.
What you heard stays with you. Not in the team chat, not in the card.
No return dates.
Leave out "hurry back" or anything that reads like a deadline.
Keep the logo off.
A get well gift comes from people. No branded inserts or company merchandise.
If the news is a loss rather than an illness, see sympathy gifts instead.
Get well gift questions
What is a good get well gift for a coworker?
Something small they can enjoy while resting, sent to their home with a short card. A box of chocolates or a small gift box works for many people. Ask a close colleague about allergies or a restricted diet first, and skip anything branded.
How much should you spend on a get well gift for a coworker?
There is no set amount. From one coworker, under $40 is plenty. When the team pools, one gift of $40 to $100. From the company or for a client after a longer leave, about $100 to $150.
When should you send a get well gift?
Send a message right away. Send a gift once you know they'll be out for more than a few days, timed to arrive at their home rather than the hospital. For a planned surgery, ask their manager when they'll be home.
Should the team send one gift or several?
One gift and one card from the whole team. It is easier to receive, easier to thank, and nobody feels left out. Keep chipping in optional and the list of who paid private.
What do you write in a get well card for a coworker?
Two to four short sentences: wish them well, say their work is covered, and tell them there's no need to reply. Leave out questions about their health and anything about a return date.
Is it appropriate to send a get well gift to a client?
Yes, when you know them well. A card from the account lead is always fine; add a modest gift to the address their office gives you. Some companies cap or refuse gifts from vendors, so a card alone is the safe choice when you're unsure.
Is chocolate a good get well gift?
Often, yes, but check first. Our gifts are chocolate, so ask about allergies and about any diet they're on after surgery or during treatment, and check the ingredients before you order. If food isn't right, send the card alone.
Can you ship a get well gift to a coworker's home?
Yes. Each gift ships to the address you give, in the US and internationally, with your note inside. Get the address through HR or their manager rather than asking the person. Timing and regional charges depend on the destination.

Not sure what to send?
Tell us who it's for, your budget and where it's going, and we'll help you choose a gift and the words for the card.
