80 New Year's would you rather questions for work
New Year's would you rather questions give your team two choices about the fresh start, and everyone picks a side. Here are 80 work-safe ones for the first meetings of January. Tap the picker to put one on a shared screen.
ResolutionsWould you rather keep one big resolution all year or twelve tiny ones, a new one each month?

How to play New Year's would you rather
Read one question, everyone votes at once, and one person from each side gets 15 seconds to defend their pick. Eight to ten questions fill a 10-minute icebreaker; a kickoff opener needs three or four. They are built for the first week back in January, and none of them need anyone to share a real resolution.
15 New Year's resolution would you rather questions
The easiest place to start in January: everyone has an opinion on resolutions, even people who never make them.
1. Would you rather keep one big resolution all year or twelve tiny ones, a new one each month?
2. Would you rather learn a new language this year or finally learn to play an instrument?
3. Would you rather read 24 books this year or write one short story you are proud of?
4. Would you rather wake up 30 minutes earlier every day or go to bed 30 minutes earlier every night?
5. Would you rather get your inbox to zero once or keep it under 20 emails all year?
6. Would you rather pick back up a hobby you loved as a kid or try one you have never done?
7. Would you rather cook one new recipe every week or master five dishes you can make perfectly?
8. Would you rather have a friend check on your resolution every Sunday or an app that reminds you every day?
9. Would you rather announce your resolution to the whole team or keep it secret until December?
10. Would you rather finish a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle every month or a crossword every day?
11. Would you rather declutter one drawer every week or the whole house in one long weekend?
12. Would you rather call an old friend once a month or mail one handwritten letter a month?
13. Would you rather keep a houseplant alive all year or bake your own bread every week?
14. Would you rather have a coworker choose your resolution or pull one out of a hat?
15. Would you rather start your resolution on January 1 or give yourself until February to begin?
Want a host to run your January kickoff game?
Ten questions warm up a meeting. A live host runs the whole hour: winter games, trivia or game shows in small teams that change every round, with scoring and music and nothing for you to prep. It keeps a remote team of 15 or a 150-person kickoff on one Zoom call moving, and the goal-setting workshop turns resolutions into real plans. Hosted events book about 2 weeks ahead, so a first-week-back event is easiest to set up before the holiday break.

12 New Year's Eve party would you rather questions
For the last meeting of December or the first one back. They work just as well for people who were asleep by ten.
31. Would you rather ring in the year in a huge city crowd or on the couch, asleep before midnight?
32. Would you rather wear sequins from head to toe or pajamas with a paper party hat?
33. Would you rather throw confetti and spend an hour cleaning it up or never see confetti again?
34. Would you rather lead the countdown from ten or pick the first song after midnight?
35. Would you rather spend New Year's Eve playing board games or dancing until midnight?
36. Would you rather watch fireworks from a rooftop or from a quiet, empty beach?
37. Would you rather celebrate with an early 7 p.m. countdown or stay up for the real one?
38. Would you rather host the New Year's Eve party or bring the snacks to someone else's?
39. Would you rather have a fondue night or a build-your-own-pizza night on New Year's Eve?
40. Would you rather give a one-minute speech at midnight or lead everyone in a sing-along?
41. Would you rather celebrate on December 31 or skip it and throw your party on January 31?
42. Would you rather spend New Year's Eve at a cozy rental with friends or at a fancy hotel ball?
Planning the party itself? Our New Year's Eve games cover countdown rounds and a year-in-review quiz. If the team is spread out, a host can run a hosted game or trivia hour on Zoom instead: our virtual New Year's events work for the last workday of December or the first week back.
How to run it in the office, hybrid or on Zoom
Four steps turn a list into a game. They work the same in a room or on a call.
- Pick a set for the meeting. Resolutions or rapid fire for a quick opener, work goals before a planning session, the party set for the last meeting of December.
- Stand up or stay seated. Stand for the first option, stay in your chair for the second. On video, lean into the frame for the first or type 1 or 2 in the chat.
- One defender per side. Fifteen seconds each, then re-vote. Anyone who switched sides tells the group what changed their mind.
- Stop at ten minutes. Eight to ten questions fill it. A kickoff opener needs three or four; save the rest for next week.

- In the office: point at the left wall or the right wall to vote. Anyone alone on a side picks the next question.
- Hybrid: the room votes in the chat along with everyone at home, so no remote vote gets lost. Ask a remote teammate to defend first.
- On a video call: put the picker on screen, use one reaction for the first choice and another for the second, then unmute one voice from each camp.
- In team chat: one question for each of the first five workdays of January, with two emoji as ballots. On Friday, post the closest split and the most lopsided one.
